Building backlinks is hard. There are no shortcuts.
However, if we have backlinks directing link-juice to a page on our site, we can use that page to our advantage, and get even MORE use out of them!
One of the easiest ways to get more traffic to a new page on your site, is to link to it from that existing page that already has backlinks. These new links are internal links – yes – however, if they are placed on a page that Google is already indexing, it will become aware of the new content faster.
Another common strategy is to write articles that focus on answering questions – commonly searched questions if possible – and then linking to other articles internally.
An example of that can be seen here, on The Minimalist Fisherman:

If I just leave it sit… Google will eventually find it.
While it will take longer for Google to find this article (again, because it’s new), when it does, all of those keyword-rich internal links will become more valuable.
BUT – remember that linking to this new page from an existing page is going to help Google find it even faster.
It will also help me squeeze even more value out of the backlinks I already have!
Use this to your advantage, and if you need a content marketing strategy, or help with your SEO – let’s talk.
Enjoy the rest of your day, and get some work done!
